Congratulations Erin Claycomb on your winning poster in the  Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s 2015-16 Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest!  Erin’s poster was 1 of 50 selected from a field of 1,300 from the state of PA.  The posters promote safe and healthy alternatives to underage drinking in the students’ own images and words.  The winning posters were on display in April at the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 will be holding a STEM Summer Camp June 27-30 at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center and August 8-11 at the Executive Office of IU8 in Altoona.  Both camps will run from 8:30AM – Noon.  Grades 4 and 5 have the opportunity to learn coding using Dash and Dot, while grades 6, 7 and 8 will be coding and building with Lego Mindstorms.  The cost for the camp is $100.  Deadline to register is Friday, May 27, 2016

IU8 STEM Summer Camp Brochure


A summer STEM Program sponsored by The Claysburg Education Foundation in cooperation with the Claysburg-Kimmel School District will be held at the High School. The program is scheduled for June 20th through June 22nd.  Sessions begin at 8:30 and continue until 3:00.  Students in grades 6 -12 are invited to attend.  Registration fee is $40 per student.
