About Us
The Claysburg-Kimmel School District is a small, rural district in central Pennsylvania, serving Kimmel Township in Bedford County and Greenfield Township in Blair County. Located along Interstate 99 in the Great Appalachian Valley, the district spans 56 square miles and includes two schools: Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary (K–6) and Claysburg-Kimmel Jr./Sr. High School (7–12).
Our roots trace back to 1795 with early one-room schoolhouses and a strong tradition of community-supported education. The first high school building was erected in 1918, with the first graduating class in 1920. Over the years, the district has grown alongside the region’s industrial history, including the development of the Standard and General Refractories.
Today, we proudly carry forward our legacy with a focus on academic excellence, personal growth, and community spirit. Our mascot, the Bulldog, and our blue and gold colors symbolize our pride. We offer a range of extracurriculars and athletics that build leadership and teamwork, preparing students for success in a changing world.
